History of Nissan

The Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. was founded as its own entity in 1934, but before that, Nissan cars were released under the Datsun umbrella. In 1937, Datsun released their very first mass-produced vehicle, the Datsun Type 15. However, the first vehicle released in America was the Datsun 1200 sedan in 1958, quickly followed by a Datsun compact pickup truck—and you can trace its influence all the way to today’s Nissan Frontier.

In 1960, Nissan officially founded the Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., and the brand has had a strong connection to America ever since then. In fact, today, Nissans are some of the most popular and innovative vehicles on American roads. Not only that, but Nissan has built up a reputation both for reliability and sportiness.

Today, vehicles like the Sentra, GT-R, and Altima all occupy special places in the cultural consciousness. The aGT-R is important, of course, because it highlights Nissan’s rich racing heritage. In fact, Nissan—both in the past and the present—has always had an affinity for creating throaty, stylish concepts, and race cars. So, whether you’re looking for roadsters or family sedans, Nissan has been—and continues—to be the best there is.
