Nissan Intelligent Mobility aims to create an entirely new and safer driving experience using advanced technology and systems that can think for themselves. It consists of three pillars: Intelligent Driving, a safety system already available in numerous Nissan models, Intelligent Power, which will allow EVs to recharge as they drive, and Intelligent Integration, which provides continuous interconnectivity. We’re going to look at some of these intelligent safety features and see how they work.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility: Making Every Drive Safer
Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
A standard collision warning watches the vehicle in front of you but can’t see beyond that. This advanced system uses a camera and radar to monitor up to two cars ahead. It provides even more advanced warning of potential issues, like a vehicle slowing down or stopping. This system computes your distance from the other vehicles and compares it to your current speed to determine if a collision risk exists.
If you’re closing too fast, you’ll receive visual and audio warnings alerting you to the danger so you can hit the brakes or swerve to avoid an accident.
Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention
Blind spots have always been potentially dangerous, especially when changing lanes, as they’re impossible for you to easily see. If a vehicle enters one, you may not realize it’s there until it’s too late, and a collision is unavoidable. If your direction indicator is active and you’re about to enter an adjacent lane, sonar in your Nissan’s sides and rear will warn you if a vehicle enters a blind spot.
You’ll receive audio and visual warnings indicating the potential danger so you intervene. If you can’t react fast enough, this system will guide you back into your lane or apply hard braking, depending on the urgency of the situation.
Intelligent Lane Intervention
This feature uses a camera to identify the lane line markings. If the markings are clear, this system works to keep you positioned in the center of your lane. If it detects your wheels are about to cross the line boundaries, and you’re not actively steering, you’ll hear a warning sound. A warning icon will also appear on your screen.
If you don’t react and turn back, this system will apply the brakes to guide you safely back into your lane.
Intelligent Back-Up Intervention
When you shift into reverse, this system automatically activates. It uses sonar to scan the area directly behind you and can detect vehicles, people, animals, or objects. If something is detected, you receive audio and visual warnings. It can also automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision.
